Sterling Bay, one of the hottest investment/redevelopment firms in Chicago, wanted a unique, employee-centered space for its office headquarters in the heart of Chicago’s meatpacking district. Working in collaboration with Sterling Bay; EAA helped create a loft-style layout with a mix of offices, open workstations, and collaborative spaces. The big story is in the extras: a full service kitchen, a gym, and a large break room with skylights, television sets, and a flexible layout to allow for yoga classes and more. Reclaimed wood and steel support bands from a deconstructed water tower, as well as terracotta panels and various other reclaimed objects from other Sterling Bay buildings, were integrated into the design and are showcased throughout the space.
